Welcome to the twisted mind of the Lord Snow

Silent Hill...I come unto thee...

Silent Hill...again

I've been playing Silent Hill 3 recently. I got it sometime during the summer and JUST finished it so what? A couple months? But there's a reason for that....it's just so damned creepy >.<

This time around, I take control of a girl, Heather, as she tries to unlock the mysteries surrounding her true identity and her connection to the town. This installment is rather...more action oriented than part 2...I mean, in part 2, I had to play for about 15 minutes before I saw my first monster but here? I'm swamped with them in the first ten minutes in the game. The variety of weapons is much more diversified too. While the staples of survival horror make another appearance (ie, knife, handgun, shotgun) she also sports some...different utensils of destruction ^.^ These include the maul (which is like a spiked sledge hammer), an SMG (sub-machine gun...looks like an MP5), a stun gun (rapers beware XD), and the godlike katana! Heather is far from defenseless in this game.

The story this time is actually a continuation of the first Silent Hill game where Harry Mason visits Silent Hill and discovers the presence of an ancient cult that aims to resurrect a God. They did so by somehow.,,impregnating? One of the women with the spirit of God. Having never played the first part, I'm not sure of what happens but what I DO know is that somehow, the spirit of God is transferred from a woman to a child...a child that Harry takes away with him when he leaves the cursed town.

Many years later, Heather is at the mall when she has a nightmare of an amusement park filled with monsters....upon awakening, she's sought out by a private detective and a mysterious woman in black who continuously asks her if she has 'awakened to her true self.' From there...the journey begins.

You eventually discover (after Claudia kills your father), that your father, Harry took you away from Silent Hill many years ago. The spirit of God is within YOU. Of course, you don't discover that until MUCh later. Eventually, you return in the game to Silent Hill and closer to unravelling the mysteries of God and the faith of the cult.

One of the creepiest scenes...in the nightmare version of the Silent Hill hospital...the walls bleed. Like...they REALLY bleed and pulse as if there are veins running through it that beats to some unseen heart. I walked into a room....the far wall was a giant mirror and just in front of it was a lone bathtub just sitting there. I was in the room for a while before I noticed that the mirror was...streaking. Upon closer inspection, I observed that the bathtub was leaking blood...and that it was slooooowly crawling up the mirror in long strands, across the floor and around the other walls. Creeped out, I left the room. I wandered around for a long time, looking for some alternate path but none presented itself. I steeled myself and went back to that room...only to be creeped out and leave again after about half the room was covered in blood. All in all though, it took me a LOT of attempts before I managed to keep myself in there until the next scene occured. I duno...it was just so creepy XD.

At the end of the game..by far, some of the grossest scenes I've ever seen in a game. It rivalled even the monster rape scene in Silent Hill 2!! Heather, upon confronting the 'leader' of the cult, Claudia, she realizes that God is within her own body. So she takes this drug...and she like...vomits up this...bloody fetus of God....but if that's not bad enough, it gets WORSE!! Claudia, horrified at the prospect of God dying, she PICKS UP THE BLOODY FETUS AND FUCKING EATS IT!!!! Man...that was ABSOLUTELY horrifying and disgusting. Especially with all the sound effects >.<

So anyways, that was that, she gets possesed, I kill her and game over.

So I thought the game was scary right? I unlocked some secret weapons...a couple costumes and now? No problem. When I play in the daytime, I put on my oriental shirt with a pair of jeans and bust out my new machine gun with unlimited ammo and kick monster ass. When I play in the nighttime...I put on my new sailor moon type outfit, complete with giant pink hearts and bust out my brand spanking new, lightsaber! I take out monsters with the power of the Force baby ;)

Ya know though? I really thought that my days of being scared by this game were through....I discovered that I was wrong today...the SH team at Konami...they're fucking GOOD at what they do. The second time through the game...things change -.- I was happily killing monsters when I noticed that the walls at the BEGINNING of the game were starting to bleed... o.O, but that's not all. The first time through the Office building, there was this room full of broken mannequins that creeped me out a bit cause of the mannequin monster in SH2 but none of the mannequins moved or anything so I was more at ease. The second time through, I passed the first bunch of mannequins and while I was in the back of the room looking for the key item, I hear a LOUD female scream and a thump. FREAKED outta my mind, I search through the room and what do I find? One of the mannequins had lost it's head...in a shower of blood o.O

What does that show?

Silent Hill always has yet another mysterious surprise just around the corner...
