A record of my journeys through the town of Silent Hill and my thoughts along the way...
The Lakeview Hotel
Rowing across that foggy lake was really no big deal at all...just got turned around a few times >.< but all in all, a cakewalk. Entering the hotel, and getting through it wasn't really hard at all. Just a few...creey spots...
The map you recieve at the beginning of the hotel has room 312 circled, someone has written next to it, "I'll be waiting for you..." That sent a bit of a shiver down my spine.
At another point, you are forced to leave ALL your items on a shelf to get onto a really picky elevator. I gotta tell ya, walking around with no weapons...no healing items...and NO FLASHLIGHT AND RADIO was pretty freaking creepy...I couldn't even attack the stupid monsters I came across...could only run past em or around em. I felt so...naked >.<
But moving on, the Hotel wasn't really that difficult, no new monsters, me still saving up my bullets and even the puzzles weren't difficult at all..just took a while to get from room to room.
So eventually, I make my way into room 312 and watch a video tape left at the hotel for me to find...watching the tape, I discover that all along...this whole time, James had killed Mary O.O Classic way to kill a sick person...while she was in bed, he grabbed the pillow and....
After watching the tape, Mary/Maria's voice once again bursts from the radio, telling me to find her. So I go, and out in the hall, find that the hotel has switched to a nightmare version. Water drips from the ceiling and there is mold lining the baseboards of the hallways. But ignoring that, I move on and meet with Angela once more in a burning stairwell...
She says something about her father (Which was a demon that I killed back in the prison) and walks off into the flames...I think she's dead...
But whatever, I move down a loooong hallway while listening to a conversation between James and Mary play...a conversation from their past, when she thought she was holding him back from living because of her illness and while she needed him..but didn't want him there...and at the end of the hallway, passing through the door, guess what I see before me...
Normally, when there's a save point, (a very vivid red square) there is just one, usually tacked up onto the wall. Before me, I see NINE of them, tacked up together forming a bright red square and a giant set of doubledoors on one wall...think I should save? ^.^
Inside, I see TWO pyramid heads o.O and they have Maria chained upside down between them...and before my eyes, one of them raises its spear and STAB...no more Maria. James says some stuff tha tleads me to believe that the Pyramid Head figure is nothing more than an extension of his own will before I gotta fight em both at the same time o.O
However, I didn't find the battle hard at all...by the time I walked into the fight, I had a little under 300 pistol rounds, a little over 150 shotgun rounds and about 45 rounds for my hunting rifle NOT TO MENTION the Great Knife that I got from Pyramid Head before...so basically, it was a cakewalk. Just keep running in circles, firing one or two shots when I'm far enough away. Bottom line, I kick their asses without taking a scratch :D
Moving on, get into the room with the last boss...Mary/Maria. After a bit of convo...she morphs into some big demon thing and attacks....but the thing is, didn't really scare me :P I mean, it looks like she got tied up to her bed, flipped upside down and flies around chasing you :P IMO, not too scary...but whatever, I kicked her ass REALLY easily and watched the ending...
The ending...Mary reads a passage about her illness..and how she felt about what it was doing to James, her husband...about how she missed him but wanted him to go away and live his own life...at the end of the letter, James can be heard revving the engine of a car and says something about going to be with her...one can only presume that he committed suicide...
And so ends my trip through the little resort town of Silent Hill...all in all, looking back on it, the experience was...a pretty eventful one but I realize that the game is ridiculously easy. I mean, I had over 13 health drinks and 13 first aid kits at the end, not to mention all of my ampoules. But other than that, not too bad...great atmosphere all around the game, provides a nice overall creepiness to it that I've never found before...
So this is the end, and I say goodnight...
